Not bad

This is pretty cool, great guitar playing, although a few of the licks sound pretty standard, but there are deff sum original bits here and there. A few time issues, but no major train wrecks or anything. The E-D-C-B riff on the bass gets a little repetitive after a while, but is a nice progression to jam to. Good work.

Oh and PS, i don't know everything and I never will, but that won't stop me from trying to learn, I only voted on that one song and I gave you a two because that is what I thought it deserved, and I am voting a 4 on this because it is pretty cool. Actually, I'm pretty sure you voted zero's on all my songs, but that is not a big deal cuz my ng songs are mostly bullshit. I didn't mean to offend when I reviewed your piece; I was just offering constructive criticsm, which is usually a lot more helpful than just saying "THIS SUCKS!!" or "MAN YOU FUCKING ROCK". Anyways, keep playing

Ahh

Hmm. I guess you would call this, "jazz", but definitely not jazz. Maybe try listening first. This is not a bad effort, but the swing feel is too robotic, the bass sounds unnatural, and the drums could have been done a lot better... for instance, I would have substituted the finger snaps for closed hi hat, the open hi hat for ride cymbal, and that random tapping sound for snare shots. That might somewhat resemble a "jazz groove"... sort of. Anyways, this is still kind of cool, good job

No seriously, thanx for oyur review. I'm messing around with drum sounds and trying to find decent beats. Also, I find that when I export, the sound is much quiter/duler than in the FL studio program -_-. I'll figure it out someday.

Well

I like the sliding synth you use, that is cool. Apart from that, this song does not have much to offer. I guess used in the scenario you described it might be ok, but it still sounds empty... maybe would benefit from some mellow bass and background pads. Also the drums are very simple which is not a bad thing, only in this case they tend to get rather repetitive. Still, this is not bad-oh, and a tip, don't vote 5 on your own music, or at least, wait until someone else has voted on it.

Rammer responds:

yeah, im still learning how to use fl studio...this is more or less the first time im actually hand-making the stuff, so it is kinda lame...but oh well.

by the way, about your tip, just a question....how come?

Meh

Hmm. I wish I could say a lot of good things about this song. But I can't. Let's see, the guitar is ok, although the chords are far from original. The vocals aren't horrible, but the tuning is way off. The lyrics are nice but there doesn't seem to be a lot of variation. Anyways, keep trying?

Very different

Excellent use of voice samples, the way you used it as an instrument. Awesome affect, the drums are a little weak and uninteresting though, and after a while it gets repetetive as there is not a whole lot of "substance" here. Stil, very interesting and original, nice job

Gillenium responds:

Most experimental songs don't have much substance. I'm glad you liked it! I just wanted to show people something really weird and different.

Very Nice

Interesting, very different. Good use of space, (ie ambient music) it comes together very well. The transitions are sometimes not as smooth as I would have liked, it sometimes feels like a new part will just kind of "start" without warning or preface, but not a big deal. Also, your first "melody" kind of pisses me off every time you hit that major 3rd, it feels like you should have just kept it totally minor, like hit the 4th instead, but who the fuck am I, and I don't know if you'll even understand what I mean. Anyways, overall great track, keep up the good work man

Gillenium responds:

No, I know exactly what you mean. You're talking about Wendy's combo meals right?.... oh... well thanks for the review anyway! I'm working on precussion and transitions. I know my flaws.

Awesome

When I first started listening to this, I thought the bass was just going to piss me off, but it sounded so good when the synths came in, just came together really well man. Very interesting, and different, which is good. Repetetive, but not in a bad way. Nice work man, I'm gonna check out some of your other stuff

napalm6b responds:

sorry man most of my musical influences/ideas are much more extreme and dark than this track, this just came out of boredom and I thought folks at Newgrounds would like it =P

Nice

Good to see someone actually made use of those fucking annoying "Assface is now online" etc. sounds! Very clever, good job

Very Cool

Definetely for the most part this was a succesful experiment. The few criticisms I would make would be against the drums, although there are some good beats and rythyms, they're not exactly original, it just seems like the same beat you hear all the time. Certainly not all of them, but quite often. The "acid saw" is actually a cool sound, but, it just doesn't seem to fit the atmosphere of the groove at that point in the song. Also, the drums sounded a little awkward during the piano part. Other than that good work, keep experimenting

DJRunaway responds:

I totally agree on the drum part. It's 2 empty and shit, but hey... Lazy Person + Fruity Loops + Experimenting = Empty Drums ;)
Thanks for the feedback :D

Nice

Cool synths, and SIMPLE melodic hooks, you are not trying to do more than you can, and it sounds a lot better. I did notice the transitions in 1 or 2 places, but that is not such a big deal, and can be easily fixed. This is actually quite good, although you couldn't really call this funk. Nice work

Zerok responds:

Maybe I was trying to get too complex with the others. ^_^

I put it in 'funk' because I had originally called the file "funky.mp3" because of an imagination failure. I love my logic.
